Teeth Cleanings in Federal Hill

Routine hygiene that keeps small problems small.

What a cleaning involves

A hygienist removes the hardened plaque that builds up along the gumline and between the teeth, which is the part brushing cannot shift once it has set. The teeth are then polished. Dr. Ellis checks your teeth and gums while you are in the chair, and that check is the part that catches things early.

Most of what goes wrong in a mouth starts small and painless. A cleaning appointment is mainly how small problems get found while they are still small.

How often to come in

It depends on your gums. Some people are fine on a routine schedule and some need to be seen more often, particularly if there is any gum disease. Dr. Ellis will tell you what she recommends for you rather than applying the same interval to everyone.

If it has been a while

Plenty of people book their first cleaning in years, and it is a common enough thing that nobody here finds it remarkable. You will not be lectured about it.

If more has built up than a routine cleaning will handle, Dr. Ellis will explain what she is seeing and what she suggests doing about it before starting. See Gum Disease Therapy if bleeding or receding gums are what brought you here.

Cost and insurance

Routine cleanings are covered by most dental plans, often in full. Check yours on the Insurance Plans Accepted page, or call us on 443-420-0181 and we will look it up with you.

Dr. Ellis will look at it and tell you what she thinks, in plain terms.
